Prevent Mosquito Bites With Mosquito Control
It is no secret that mosquitoes are a problem here in Southwest Florida. Our warm weather mixed with the high humidity is inviting to mosquitoes. Especially, our local areas of Naples and Fort Myers. Mosquito control is critical especially during the summer months. This is because mosquitoes are known to carry diseases. Diseases that are harmful to humans and pets. Luckily, there are a few ways you can help to reduce or eliminate mosquitoes yourself.
Mosquitoes have a four-stage life cycle. It is as follows: egg, larvae, pupae, and adult. Because the egg and larvae are the first few stages of a mosquito’s life, it is important to start by removing any standing water around your home. If you cannot easily remove standing water, then apply a larvicide. This will help to disrupt their life cycle and help to eliminate the problem.
After removing standing water and applying a larvicide you can move on to the next step. Put on all proper protection gear and equipment. Then, complete an organic insecticide application to all plants, trees, bushes, and other foliage. This will help kill off adult mosquitoes. If activity continues, reapply roughly 14-20 days later.
Lastly, you may purchase OTC (over the counter) mosquito repellent to apply to yourself. Make sure to choose a product that is safe to apply to your skin. If you plan on holding an outdoor event, add outdoor mosquito traps and mosquito repellent candles.
